McCraney play will get Chicago bow

McCraneyLandauA world preem from Tarell Alvin McCraney is probably the shows on tap for that 2012-13 season at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater Company.Tina Landau, a business member in the Windy City org, helms "Mind of Passes," in regards to a present-day birthday celebration that brings about a dark secret. Show is placed to operate in the Steppenwolf April 4-June 9, 2013.Rising youthful scribe McCraney ("Hairpiece Out!") and Landau worked with formerly on "The Brother/Sister Plays," which in fact had a properly-received run at Off Broadway's Public Theater in '09.Also around the Steppenwolf slate are Chi bows of David Lindsay-Abaire's "Good People," Stephen Adly Guirgis' "The Motherfucker Using the Hat" (to become helmed by Anna D. Shapiro, who directed it around the Rialto) and Amy Herzog's "Belleville" directed by Anne Kaufman, who helmed the play's preem this year at Yale Repertory Theater. A revival of Harold Pinter's "The Birthday Celebration,Inch directed by Austin Pendleton, is also around the bill.Steppenwolf's output is regularly seen on Gotham stages, with "August: Osage County" and "Superior Inflatible donuts" one of the productions to land on Broadway.
